April 2010

So, I have this neighbor from France, and she let me go through her CDs. I found a Toy Dolls CD she made, and I figured I already liked a few songs, so I borrowed it. Once I put it on my laptop, I fell in love with the music! I stayed up until four in the morning just listening to the CD! Ever since, which has been weeks now, I have loved the Toy Dolls so much! Even though none of my friends like the music, I love it! Your voice especially! I’m just glad I finally found something ‘different’ and not something that too many people like. You’re already in my top favorite bands, and my next goal in life is to see the Toy Dolls live! I thought I’d just let you know that your music is amazing and I can’t get enough! And I wanted to know, do you think coming to Utah is a possibility? Thanks, Olga! –Kylee

Nice to you know you fell in love with our Music Kylee! Thank you! I really hope we can get to Utah eventually!
Thank you again!
Cheers
Olga

Hey Olga, my name is Greg. I live in Houston,Tx and have been a Toy Dolls fan since 1988. I literally have all of your albums - many on vinyl. I flew to NYC to see you guys at CBGBs on the Megabyte tour in early 98. Needless to say, it was a great show and an unforgettable experience to see one of my favorite bands in such a legendary club. Anyway, my question - you get a killer sound from your Tele. I notice that it never seems to hum and buzz like most single coil Strats and Teles normally do. Not that I've noticed anyway. What pickup do you use to get such a meaty, noiseless sound? Also, what amp model do you predominantly play through? I vaguely recall seeing a Marshall half-stack at your show, but I could be mistaken. If so, what model? Maybe these are strange questions, but I'm a musician myself and I like to know these kinds of things. A little info would be much appreciated if you don't mind. Please don't retire any time soon. I look forward to many future albums. Sincerely, a lifetime fan Greg Houston, Tx

Greg hey! Wow, all the albums! Nice one! Oh, my Telecaster can hum and buzz from time to time! I sometimes have to keep using the volume control between songs, it can be a headache! It is Seymour Duncan Alnico pick up. The model amp I use is a Marshall JCM 800, 100 watt, 2203. Hope that helps!
Cheers!

Olga

Hi olga, long time since I sent a question so I thought I'd make most of it and ask a couple,, firstly, the new album which features a couple of songs by Duncan? Will they be songs written and performed entirely by him or will the music still be played by the toy dolls with just Duncan singing? Secondly, I know you are a tynesider like myself, you being from shields  and me from gateshead, you havent really done a footballing song other than nobby's memory but doesn't touch on your north east affiliations, I would hazzard a guess you are not a footballing man but if you were which team would it be in tyne and wear, sunderland or the other lot, the team that shall not be mentioned haha, And lastly, whats happening with tommy's bass lessons? Been looking forward to some more of those but seems like ages since the last one, if there are to be more could you please on for him to do the intro to do you want to be like dougy bell??  Right time to vanish, looking forward to the new album and maybe any future UK gigs, one can live in hope, cheers....... Andy

Andy hey, The two songs on the album written by Duncan will be played by the Toy Dolls with me n’ Tommy! Though Duncan will sing Lead Vocals on them, and play drums of course! I do watch the occasional match on the telly to be honest, not sure about which team I am a supporter of mind ya! Have South Shields got a team!? Tommy has informed me that he is on the case, his lessons are somewhat more complex than mine, so it can take a bit of time, but I really am lookin’ forward to seeing some of his lessons meself! UK Gigs? Well, maybe!
Cheers

Hi there Olga, Nice to contact with you =)... i noticed on the web page  the tour and Argentina is included... great!!!, excelent, but why do not think about Chile eh boy... jejej.. come on... earthquakes will dissappear in 3 or 6 months, don't be afraid man =) That is it, i want yo see you here someday... but i'll try to go to your show in Bs Aires... Happy dates!... Best regards Alex Segovia M. PD: here you have a home!! (..but in Puerto Montt xD )

Olga

Hi Olga, I've been a fan for years.  First show was when you opened for the Adicts at the Olympic in Los Angeles back in the early 80's ('82ish?).  Blew me away and immediately saw you again 2 weeks later headlining at Perkins Palace in Pasadena (The Meteors and MIA opened).  Recall it like yesterday.  Extra bonus... I wandered in to a Dickies show in Anaheim one night (I think 2003) and you were playing bass.  Gig was empty and you guys rocked.  Felt like a private show. Two questions for you.  What ever happened to your song Barry Manilow?  You used to play it years ago and it has seemed to disappear from any historic reference I can find on the web.  Even a YouTube video had been removed.  It was a very fun sing-a-long that you all seemed to enjoy singing as much as we did. Keep it up! See you soon. Steve

Steve Hi Glad to know you are still out there! Seems like yesterday to me also! We only played Barry Manilow song on a number of occasions, then we dropped it! I didn't really think it was the best song in the world! You liked it!? Really!?
Cheers

Hello Olga, I am working on a website and would like to use your songs on it - about Dave who took the plunge and about the witch and the bitch called Melanie. It would really help me if you agreed. Kind regards, Aleksy

Fine by me Alexsy. Good luck
Olga

Hi, My 8 year old daughter Lily and her friend are singing a duet of Nellie for their third grade school talent show.  Do you know if an instrumental version floating around somewhere?  ...You know, for background "ambiance." If you ever play San Francisco again, we'll all be there! Thanks! Bill Batchelor

Bill Hi I guess there must be a karaoke version somewhere out there, will check! Love to Lily!
